From Revs. Randy and Karen Booth!
We are both ordained pastors in The United Methodist Church (UMC). Randy serves a local congregation in Monroe, WI, and Karen is Director of Transforming Congregations, a ministry program of the evangelical renewal group Good News. We met while attending Drew Seminary in Madison, NJ, and this past April we celebrated 27 years of marriage.
Karen is the “organizational brains” behind the tour, planning the itinerary and working one-on-one with the tour company. She also has the responsibility to make sure things run as smoothly as possible while in Israel. Randy leads the devotions and Bible studies on the tour. He is an excellent Bible scholar, having taught various forms of Disciple (a year-long survey of the Old and New Testaments) over 25 times.
On the personal side, we are both avid collectors — Randy loves realistic paintings, especially landscapes, and Karen is currently enthralled with beads and jewelry design. He also plays the guitar and leads worship in Monroe UMC’s praise band. She is a published author; her book Forgetting How to Blush: United Methodism’s Compromise with the Sexual Revolution was released by Bristol House Publishers in 2012.
